What We Do
Hawk Waste Solutions is a commercial waste and recycling company. We handle scheduled trash and recycling collection, roll-off dumpster rental, compactors, balers and trash chutes, and we read what a business is already paying so the service matches what the site actually produces.
All of it runs out of a five acre yard in Cleves, just outside Cincinnati, and from there we work with businesses across Ohio, Indiana, Kentucky, West Virginia and Illinois.
The company started in 2024. Vince spent twenty years in manufacturing engineering at Toyota and Johnson & Johnson.
Where the Idea Came From
Many companies treat waste and recycling as a fixed cost. A bill arrives, somebody approves it, and nothing changes for years, mostly because nobody has ever told them anything could. Something usually can. Almost every site can be run more efficiently than it is, and a site that runs more efficiently costs less to service. That is an engineering problem, so we treat it as one.
The idea comes partly from time spent in Japanese plants. Space around them is scarce, so material gets separated into several streams and moved almost daily, and landfill is a last resort rather than the default. Nothing about it is clever. They measure what comes out of the building and match the service to it, and the same question works on any loading dock anywhere: what is in here, where is it going, and what does it cost to move it.
Vince has seen it from inside the plants, which is why this is not a theory we are trying out on you. It is work he has been doing for years.
Here is one example. A company putting mostly cardboard, plastic and paper into a general waste container was moved to mixed recycling, and that line came down by 60 to 70 percent. That is one job rather than a promise, but it is the work.
Meet Vince Gray
Over twenty years in manufacturing engineering, at Toyota, the company that invented lean manufacturing, and at Johnson & Johnson building the assembly automation and test processes behind medical surgical devices. Army National Guard from 1999 to 2005, artillery and post security, including Operation Enduring Freedom.
Lean rests on one idea: find the waste in a process and take it out. That is the same work whether the process is a production line or a hauling contract. Vince handles quoting, waste audits and commercial accounts.
We Own Our Trucks and Containers
Yes. We own the roll-off trucks and the containers they carry, and they work out of a five acre yard in Cleves that was built out for the job, with a truck port, a truck ramp and a wall for consolidating light loads. Eighty-two containers sit in that yard between rentals, and each truck runs about fifty-five hours a week delivering and swapping them.
That fleet covers the customers who order most. Past its range we partner with haulers we already work with, and we stay your point of contact from the order through the pickup. We run seven days a week, and a Saturday or Sunday delivery costs the same as a weekday. There is no weekend surcharge.
What We Rent, Sell and Service
Between the rental side and the commercial side, this is what we put on a site and stand behind afterwards.
- Roll-off containers, ten through forty yard. We rent them, sell them and service them.
- Trash chutes and the Trash Rocket. A debris chute gets material down from height straight into the container, so nobody carries it down a ladder. It is what makes a multi-storey tear-out or a roofing job move. We rent, sell and service these too.
- Compactors and balers. Stationary, self-contained, pre-crusher and chute-fed compactors, compactor containers, and vertical and horizontal cardboard balers. We can arrange these, and we sell them. A baler turns cardboard you pay to haul into a bale you can sell.
- Front load and rear load service. Two, four, six and eight yard containers, toters and carts, plastic dumpsters and mixed-stream recycling containers, on a weekly route and billed monthly. We arrange these through the service provider that fits the site.
Where We Work
The two sides of the business cover different ground, so the answer depends on what you need.
Commercial waste and recycling service, and equipment. Ohio, Indiana, Kentucky, West Virginia and Illinois. That reaches Dayton, Columbus, Louisville, Lexington and most of southeast Indiana. Reading an invoice and managing an account does not depend on our own trucks, which is why this is the wider of the two areas.
Roll-off dumpster rental. A fifty mile radius around Paycor Stadium, covering Greater Cincinnati, Northern Kentucky and southeast Indiana. We run our own trucks on these, and that is what sets the radius. Past fifty miles we still deliver, with roughly $100 added.
